Iconic brand revolutionized the design and manufacturing of scrubs for groups and individuals
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 15, 2014). In 2004, Cherokee Uniforms recognized a need among healthcare professionals for classic, dependable, comfortable and durable scrubs in a breadth and depth of sizes and colors to meet the needs of groups and individuals. The result: Cherokee Workwear.
Today, as Cherokee Workwear celebrates its 10-year anniversary, it is the number one selling scrub in the world, with a loyal following that considers Workwear their go-to brand of choice.
“When we first envisioned the Workwear line, we were determined to create the perfect scrub with the fabric, styles and fit that healthcare professionals desired and with the value that they deserved,” said Michael Singer, CEO of Strategic Partners, Inc., Cherokee’s parent company.
“As a company, we are dedicated to providing comfort, quality and style to those who give so much of themselves to help others. Supporting these professionals with great products is an honor,” he added.
Cherokee Originals in 2004 were made with the same poly/cotton fabric used today that gets softer with every wash. Manufactured in 16 colors, the collection offered Women’s and Unisex styles, ranging from Petite to Tall and XS to 5XL. Today, Workwear Originals come in 36 colors, Women’s, Men’s and Unisex styles and offer a size range from XXS to 5XL in Petite, Regular and Tall lengths.
“Cherokee Workwear was designed to meet the busy lifestyle demands of healthcare professionals,” said Susan Nunez, Executive Vice President, Merchandising, and creator of the collection. “Our goal was to have the best fabric—one that is extremely durable, non-fading and easy care–as well as the best construction. We are extremely proud of the collection and its impact on professional medical apparel.”
Cherokee Workwear hasn’t rested on its laurels during the last decade, however. “We continuously improve the collection each season,” said Nunez, “offering new colors, styles, and now premium core stretch and rayon stretch fabrics to evolve the brand.”
To mark the anniversary, Strategic Partners announced a 10-month program that celebrates nurses and healthcare workers who contribute so much to communities around the globe.
The campaign kicks off with a series of videos profiling nurses from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, who offered to model Cherokee Workwear for the Spring 2014 catalog. Ten nurses tell their stories—unique to them, but universal to nurses and medical professionals everywhere—filled with humor, wisdom, advice and heartfelt emotion.
Contests, promotions, trunk shows and events will occur at retailers nationwide, as well as on cherokeeuniforms.com and scrubsmag.com from now through October 2014.
“We are dedicating these next 10 months to healthcare professionals, recognizing and rewarding them for the outstanding work they do every day,” said Singer. “There is no occupation more deserving of our appreciation and support.”
